Gustavo de Morais, a Brazilian guitarist based in Ireland, seamlessly blends his Brazilian heritage with contemporary music. His performances are characterized by spontaneity, beautiful melodies, and lively energy, with Gustavo accompanying and improvising with exceptional skill.

Since moving to Ireland, Gustavo has been actively collaborating and performing with musicians both on and off the island. In Ireland, he has performed as both band leader and sideman in reputable venues such as Arthur’s Blues and Jazz Club, Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge, Moat Theatre in Naas, Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone, The Button Factory, The Sugar Club in Dublin, and Scott’s Jazz Club in Northern Ireland. Internationally, Gustavo has performed in Italy, Spain, the UK, Romania, and Poland. Notable highlights include appearances at prestigious festivals such as the 20th Bydgoszcz Jazz Festival, Sibiu Jazz Festival, Brasov Jazz Festival at Jazz Bastion, and the Deva Jazz & Blues Festival.

In 2023, Gustavo was awarded the Ray Comiskey Jazz Scholarship, a testament to his dedication and talent in the jazz genre.

In 2024, Gustavo continued to achieve remarkable milestones. He performed at the acclaimed Bray Jazz Festival and the Johnstown Jazz Festival. His contributions to music were further recognized through multiple awards, including the Agility Award funded by the Arts Council, the Music Capital Scheme funded by Music Network, the Culture Night Commission Award, and the Platform 4 Recording Studio Bursary Award.

Gustavo’s musical journey began with a passion for blues and rock before his focus shifted to jazz and Brazilian music. Pursuing formal education in Europe, he graduated with first-class honours in a Bachelor’s in Jazz and Contemporary Music through Dublin City University.

In addition to his performance career, Gustavo is a passionate music educator, teaching a diverse range of topics and conducting music workshops in schools. His dedication to inspiring and nurturing the next generation of musicians reflects his commitment to the art of music.
